The Air Jordan 1 "Banned" is one of the most iconic sneakers of all time and released in 2011. Taking its cues from the original Chicago Bulls-inspired black and Varsity Red colorway, the sneaker features Nike Air tongue labeling, an "X" on each heel, along with other throwback detailing. As the legend of the Banned Jordans goes, Nike paid the NBA fines for Michael Jordan so he could continue to wear them during his rookie season. When they hit retail shelves, the high quality full-grain leather had sneakerheads in awe while the insoles featured the date of the "banning," adding to the specialness of the sneaker. Released exclusively at Nike Outlets on a Wednesday and marked as "B-Grade," this release was definitely special. If you were able to acquire a pair at retail, you certainly made a good investment.
